PROJECTS
"With God all things are possible."
Matthew 19:26
At IOU Missions we have a number of projects that we are working on that we know can further assist families in our communities now and for years to come. A number of these projects are still in the early planning stages and some have already begun to take shape. Realistically some of these projects will take more time, materials and money to implement but all are worthy of our attention.
We can't do this alone. We need volunteers to help in anyway they can to bring these projects together. You may not be able to physically help but you may have skills that you can teach to others. You may have items that you no longer need that can be used or sold to help keep these projects moving forward. Perhaps you can bless the ministry with advice and planning or even with much needed funds. Whatever you can do will be a blessing. We believe that the Lord will bless the efforts of all involved when neighbors come together to help neighbors. Please keep us in your daily prayers as we continue to grow and expand into these new areas.
Soup
Kitchen
Within the next year or so we hope to renovate our kitchen so that we can offer a warm meal once a day to families in need.
In the meantime, we will be offering a soup ministry once a month.
Fruit
Orchard
The honeybees have already arrived and are busy producing raw honey. The community orchard will have apples, peaches,
pears, plums and cherry trees that will dot the landscape. Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, grapes and strawberries will also help feed the community with the freshest of fruits for years to come.
Lending
Library
We are actively collecting books and videos for our new lending library. People will be able to sit and enjoy a good book in our comfortable sitting area.
They will also be able to borrow them to entertain them in the privacy of their own homes.
Emergency Help
From time to time, families are referred to us following a disasterous event or special need. Do you know someone in need or do you want to help someone in need?
Greenhouses
We have acquired two greenhouses that will house an aquaponics system, citrus trees and plants. We hope to supplement the food pantry during the winter months. It will also be used to start new plants for the community gardens and have plants to sell to raise additional funds.
Fuel
Bank
Winters in Pennsylvania can be brutal and many stuggle through the winter months to provide adequate heat in their homes. They often have to choose between food, medicine and heat. We seek to be able to assist those in need with a fuel grant to keep them warm during these times.
Education
Education is so important in helping others. There are so many people within our communities that have so much to share and to teach. Can you
teach someone to garden, to cook or can, to fish, to repair plumbing or how to use a computer? Would you like to learn something new?
Other Projects
The number of projects often seems endless and overwhelming but when people come together, neighbors helping neighbors, nothing is impossible. We welcome your ideas, your help and your prayers.
