Greenhouses
Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.
Genesis 2:15
We have acquired two greenhouses that will eventually house an aquaponics system, citrus trees and plants. We plan to use these greenhouses to supplement the food pantry and soup kitchen during the winter months. They will also be used to start new plants for the community gardens and to have plants to sell to raise additional funds.
We are considering the utilization of solar panels to run the electrical system. Also through the use of hot water heating systems we will be able to operate the greenhouses during the winter months.
Each greenhouse will be approximately 20' wide by 48' long.
One greenhouse will eventually house an aquaponics system that will produce vegetables and fruits year round while providing a continuous natural watering and fertilization process. Until an aquaponics system can be installed we will be using it in the same way as the second greenhouse.
The second greenhouse will be used to start new plants for use in the community gardens, to house a few citrus trees and to provide plants for sale to the general public for fundraising purposes.
